Do sprawling grasslands and abandoned towns come to mind when you think of an Oregon elopement?
They should now!
Greyson + Emily currently live in Arkansas, but one of the most memorable experiences they've had together was exploring ghost towns in Oregon's vast desert landscape.
Greyson + Emily met when they both worked together, and spent a lot of time in Oregon.
"Oregon is where we grew together. It is truly everything to us, so we only see ourselves getting married there!" Emily says.
When considering where to elope, Emily + Greyson had Central Oregon in mind. Eloping somewhere remote really resonated with these two! While some couples may want their adventure elopement to take place at a popular spot, Greyson + Emily felt that privacy and intimacy was the way to go when it came to planning their Oregon elopement.
Friends, it is so imperative that you go with your gut instincts when planning your adventure elopement. For you + your partner, that may mean eloping in Yosemite, the cliffs of Big Sur, one of Iceland's most popular waterfalls, or, like Emily + Greyson, at a carefully coordinated spot off of a dirt road, at the Spring Basin Wilderness.
The sun dazzled us as we arrived at an unassuming dirt pull out, with Greyson's mother accompanying them on their trip.
[Just because you + your partner choose to elope, doesn't mean you can't include loved ones in ways you see fit!]
Taking in the scenery; the amber grass, flitting birds, and soft breeze, Emily + Greyson led the way on a search for the perfect ceremony place amongst the Central Oregon desert land.
Once a spot had been picked out, the two of them dressed in their wedding attire: earth tones complimenting the desert hues.
With the only sounds to be heard for miles being Greyson + Emily trading vows, the desert air hung thick with powerful emotion that only two people in love can evoke.
Following their ceremony, we trooped back to the cars, ready to celebrate! Emily + Greyson had picked up some pastries from a local cafe, and enjoyed a picnic + champagne together at the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument.
Greyson's mom Carla hung back, as we all wanted to give the newlyweds the space to just exist together on their elopement day.
Since exploring ghost towns together is a fun part of their relationship, we ended their adventure elopement day by exploring the ghost town of Antelope, snapping photos around the neat buildings!
Emily + Greyson chose to have an adventure session the day after their elopement, something we often recommend to couples! Adventure sessions are a great way to document your time together as a couple in a more relaxed setting, getting a diversity of locations, and encapsulating your elopement adventure as a whole! Greyson + Emily's adventure session spot? Why, Rowena Crest of course; marveling at the Columbia River Gorge below.
