What do you think of when the month of June comes to mind? Probably not freezing temperatures and snow, right? Well, high in the mountainous region of North Cascades National Park in Washington, we received just that.
Adventure elopements require planning, and, when involving locations where weather is unpredictable, an easygoing mentality. Taylor + Kyle embodied carefree; with an excited approach to their North Cascades elopement. Taylor + Kyle road-tripped from their home state of Minnesota to the Pacific Northwest for their elopement, camping in their rugged Jeep along the way.
We arrived early in the morning at a frozen-over Picture Lake, deep in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie Wilderness. After meeting up with the fabulous officiant Marie, we shared in Taylor + Kyle's private little ceremony; where the air was still and quiet, and the only sounds to be heard for miles were the heartfelt vows they exchanged.
After toasting their new marriage with some donuts from Mighty-O [perks of having a morning ceremony, although one of the best things about eloping is there are no rules! Donut toast? Champagne toast? Pizza toast? GO FOR IT. It's your day!], we tromped amongst the pure white snow of the North Cascades.
The day after their elopement, Taylor + Kyle journeyed from the snow enrobed peaks of northern Washington to the beach of the southern part of the state. The name of their adventure session location? Cape Disappointment State Park.
"We live for irony", Taylor quipped.
We absolutely adore being able to document a couple's entire adventure elopement story, and we really wanted to capture the fun memories of their cross-country road trip! Day-after sessions are a wonderful way of telling your elopement story in its entirety. The great thing about a day-after adventure session is that it is yours to do as you wish: some couples like dressing up again in their elopement attire and going to another location for variety, other couples like planning an event to enjoy together [we once shot a day-after session in an arcade where the couple had a blast playing games!], or, like Taylor + Kyle, to chronicle the laidback spirit of their Pacific Northwest elopement.
Once the sun bid farewell behind the Pacific Ocean, we also bid farewell to Taylor + Kyle as they continued on their excursion across the United States.
It is so neat to be able to tangibly FEEL a couple's love for each other, and the energy of a beautiful, free-spirited elopement.
We will never get over how each elopement is so wonderfully unique to each couple: and that is what makes it such magic.
