Having a wedding day that is not only gorgeous and fun, but simple when it comes to legalities, too?! Sign us up! Here’s what you need:

-grab your marriage license from the Santa Barbara County clerk recorder’s office; they have both walk-in availability and appointment options. Both partners must be present and provide a valid photo IDs, and you don’t have to be a resident of the county to get a marriage license here -  which is awesome for my couples coming from out of state!

-find an officiant! We are always happy to provide vendor recommendations to you such as efficient to perform your ceremony. You can also include a loved one by having them officiate their ceremony if they get ordained online through an organization, such as universal life church!

-don’t forget your witness! The state of California requires one witness to sign the marriage license, but you can have up to two if you decide! If you are wanting to keep things more intimate, one of us would be happy to sign as a witness for you!

-after your elopement, it’s time to celebrate! Your officiant will file your signed license with the county to make everything legal!
